About Weddings at the Church of Our Father, Hulls Cove

The clergy, organist, altar guild and members of Church of Our Father want to help you make your wedding as meaningful and joyful as possible! The following guidelines have been developed over the years so that everyone involved knows what is expected on this special day.

This wedding information is also available in a PDF document.

Please call the office, (207-288-4849) to make an appointment with the priest. No date for any wedding will be considered a firm date until the meeting has taken place between the two parties.

Please call your local town office for full details on a marriage license and possible blood work. Bar Harbor town hall is 288-4098. You are required to bring the license to the wedding rehearsal so all parties are able to sign it ahead of the wedding. The priest will retain the license so it can be signed and dated after the wedding and mailed to the appropriate municipality.

Please call and let the church office (288-4849), know the name of the florist you will be using. Flowers normally remain on the altar through Sunday morning services in the case of Friday and Saturday weddings, but exceptions may be made.

The church sexton (janitor) is responsible for preparing the building (cleaning) for the wedding and after the ceremony. The fee is $100.00 for his services.

All music for the wedding is approved by the priest. You may enlist the services of our organist for a fee of $175.00 or bring in another musician. Please note that the organist/ pianist will need to be present at the rehearsal in addition to the day of the wedding.
Marriage is a sacrament; a sacred and personal ceremony even though there are many people present on that day. We want to avoid all distractions during the service, but maintain memories of the wedding day. Please inform the priest of the phone number of your photographer so any instructions can be relayed ahead of the day.

Hopefully, we have taken care of the most frequently asked questions concerning weddings and maybe even some you didn’t even think to ask! Anything else not covered here can be answered with a call to the priest who is the celebrant of your special and holy day! Remember, relax and enjoy!!
